Laughter and Lament
The almond tree is blooming
With its buds of rosy pink,
The garden soil is freshly plowed
And waiting now for seeds.
The baby lambs are lowing
In the field so bright and green,
The birds are sweetly singing
As we welcome early spring.
A season of beginnings,
New life, and budding hope:
The gentle wind is whispering,
A voice that never stops.
Beyond my quiet meadow,
This peace is hard to see:
As men wage war, missiles soar,
Children cry, and families flee.
My heart breaks with every tale
Of bombs set off and towns assailed
And I, so safe and warm,
What can I do to calm the storm?
I must go out and plant the seeds
I must enjoy the beauty I see
I must pass on the joy and hope
I must serve, and never stop.
Life is full of sorrow and care
Danger and sadness are everywhere
But Hope can be found in every place
When you view everything through the lens of Grace.
Cast all your cares on the Lord above
He will show you His mercy and love
And when you feel that your heart is spent
He'll show you the beauty of laughter and lament.
