Before the Earth and sky were made,

Before the sun did shine,

Our God’s eternal plan was laid

To save poor souls like mine

The Father chose his Only Son

To die upon the tree

Our Jesus was the only one

Whose blood could make us free

He came to Earth to teach us all

About our God above

He taught adults and children small

With kindness and with love

He gave himself on Calvary

His life did freely give

He bore our sins upon the tree

He died that we might live

They laid him in the tomb that day,

But that is not the end!

For on the morn of the third day,

Our Jesus rose again!

He walked and talked with us on earth,

He told us how to live;

And when he left his home on earth,

This promise he did give:

I will prepare a place for you,

That you may be with me

From where I came, I’ll take you, too,

For all eternity.

While I am gone, my Spirit will

Be sent to comfort you:

Your hearts with love and joy I’ll fill

Until I come for you.

Oh, Blessed Trinity!

 Oh, Blessed Trinity!

Oh, Blessed Trinity Divine

Perfect in all Your ways

Glory, Honor, and praise be Thine!

Thy Holy Name we praise,

Thy Holy Name we praise

Eternal Father, strong to save

Reigning from up above,

Your Only Blessed Son you gave,

His Holy Name we love,

His Holy Name we love.

Eternal Son who came to die,

Leaving Your home above

Saving poor sinners condemned to die

Thy Holy Name we love,

Thy Holy Name we love.

Eternal Spirit, Comforter,

Cleansing our hearts anew;

Purging our minds of shame and fear,

Thy Holy Name is true,

Thy Holy Name is true.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Eternal Three In One!

Thy perfect righteousness we boast

Thy Holy will be done,

Thy Holy will be done.

Help us, Lord, to worship You

In true sincerity

All of our praise to Thee is due

Oh, Blessed Trinity!

Oh, Blessed Trinity!

Clover Bud

 The clover bud is blooming,

The Spring is passing fast,

The birds are sweetly singing,

The Winter long has passed.

The time has come for planting,

The baby chicks have hatched,

And Summer soon will enter,

And leave the gate unlatched.

The days will pass so swiftly,

Until the first snow falls:

As Winter comes back roaring,

As stillness comes to call.

The seasons are so fleeting,

It often makes one weep:

So, long as time is moving,

This flower I shall keep.

Jesus Wept

 Jesus wept, ‘tis written

Even though He knew the end

Something in His heart was smitten

Upon the loss of His dear friend

Sorrow flowed from deep within

We all weep for ones we love,

Even though we know the end:

Perfect life we’ll have above,

Then we’ll see our friends again.

The Heart of the King

The heart of the king

is in the hand of the Lord

As rivers of water he turneth it

Withersoever he will

Do not be afraid

For the Lord he is God

It is he that hath made us and not we ourselves

He who will carry us through

Whatever may come

In times of war or in peace

Our father has promised to always provide

All that we ever shall need

We need not dismay

Because the Lord up above

Is ruling and reigning in righteousness

Looking down on us with love

Rejoice in the Lord

And praise his wonderful name

He purchased redemption for all of his saints!

His holy name proclaim!

When he comes from above

To take the ransomed ones home

The singing and shouting and praises of love

Shall ring as we never have known

The heart of the king

is in the hand of the Lord

As rivers of water he turneth it

Withersoever he will

When Mama Smiled

When Mama Smiled

When Mama smiled it seemed to me

That all would be okay

Her eyes would twinkle merrily

In Mama's special way

When Mama smiled I always knew

She saw right through my mask

She always knew just what to do,

What questions she should ask

When Mama smiled she had a way

Of making one feel seen.

I never will forget that day

When I was just a teen

Mama saw me crying there

And knew just what to do

She gave a hug and said a prayer,

And made a pot of stew.

When Mama served a meal to me

Or anyone she knew,

She always made it perfectly,

To taste for me and you.

She somehow added love and care

To every dish she made

So everyone who ate her fare

Found that their hearts were fed.

When Mama hugged you felt as though

Your burdens now were gone

She took your pain and sorrow,

And bore them as her own

When Mama prayed you knew her prayers

Were often for her friends

She walked with them through the years

Working hand in hand.

When Mama cried those tears of joy

In worship or at home,

Her love for God shone gloriously

As she sang, "Thy kingdom come."

When Mama cried those tears of grief

Each year in February,

We saw a glimpse of her belief

In Jesus, our Sanctuary.

When Mama passed from earth to Glory,

Spring has just begun

Trees were blooming beautifully,

In hopes of a harvest to come.

Now Mama's body's resting there,

Her hands, once warm, now cold

Her eyes no more will twinkle here,

And she will not grow old.

Her spirit went to be with God,

And how we miss her so!

But though we would not wish her back,

We hate to see her go.

We miss her smile and warm embrace

We miss her tender care

We miss the look upon her face

We miss the solace there.

We miss her twinkly eyes so blue,

We miss her words of love,

We miss her words of wisdom too,

While she is gone above

We know she's singing there on high

With voice so sweet and mild,

And we remember the pure delight

We felt when Mama smiled.

Laughter and Lament

Laughter and Lament

The almond tree is blooming

With its buds of rosy pink,

The garden soil is freshly plowed

And waiting now for seeds.

The baby lambs are lowing

In the field so bright and green,

The birds are sweetly singing

As we welcome early spring.

A season of beginnings,

New life, and budding hope:

The gentle wind is whispering,

A voice that never stops.

Beyond my quiet meadow,

This peace is hard to see:

As men wage war, missiles soar,

Children cry, and families flee.

My heart breaks with every tale

Of bombs set off and towns assailed

And I, so safe and warm,

What can I do to calm the storm?

I must go out and plant the seeds

I must enjoy the beauty I see

I must pass on the joy and hope

I must serve, and never stop.

Life is full of sorrow and care

Danger and sadness are everywhere

But Hope can be found in every place

When you view everything through the lens of Grace.

Cast all your cares on the Lord above

He will show you His mercy and love

And when you feel that your heart is spent

He'll show you the beauty of laughter and lament.
